Troubleshooting VT-x not available
Posted: 28. Sep 2020, 10:44
All,
I read a lot about VT-x (and the FAQs here), and spent 2 days trying to get VBox running, but still no solution so far. The details:
Dell Precision 5550 with Intel Core i7-10850H with latest firmware updates (from Dell)
Windows 10 (1809)
Hyper-V is disabled
Windows Hypervisor Platform is enabled
Virtual Machine Platform disabled (made no difference when it was enabled)
Windows Sandbox is not present at all in the "feature list", so I assume it's not running/disabled.
VT-x and VT-d are both enabled in the BIOS settings
Memory integrity: off
It's a fresh Windows installation with Malwarebytes and SentinelOne security tools (no idea if those tools could block the VT-x interface).
I've created a new 64bit Linux VM with Virtualbox 6.1.14. The creation worked fine, also in the settings it shows "Acceleration: VT-x/AMD-V, Nested Paging, KVM Paravirtualization". However, when starting the VM, it shows the green turtle icon and says: "native API, nested paging: inactive, unrestricted execution: inactive".
Is it possible to see what application is blocking the VT-x access?
Any help is welcome!
Thank you
