Setting dialog box not working

Post by JeannieJ »

Trying to create 1st VM. Running Win 10 Home. Trying to create a Win XP 32 VM. It sets it up, but when I go into settings, the OK button is greyed out and there is an Invalid Settings Detected message at the bottom telling I need to adjust the hardware virtualization and turn it off. However, I cannot set and keep the hardware virtualization on the acceleration tab to off without being able to click ok, and without turning that off I cannot install the Win XP and it cancels out every time with an error popup.

I've tried removing the VM and creating a new one, but same thing happens. Tried closing out of the VirtBox and restarting the app, but again, doesn't help fix the settings ok button not working.

The error that pops up at this point is:
Not in a hypervisor partition (HVP=0) (VERR_NEM_NOT_AVAILABLE).
VT-x is disabled in the BIOS for all CPU modes (VERR_VMX_MSR_ALL_VMX_DISABLED).

Result Code:
E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component:
ConsoleWrap
Interface:
IConsole {872da645-4a9b-1727-bee2-5585105b9eed}

Am I doing something wrong here? Is the Settings tab just munged up? Other ideas?

The error message needs re-wording.

isn't what the error is really wanting you to do.

You have to open the BIOS of your computer and enable the 'virtualization technology' switch. See I have a 64bit host, but can't install 64bit guests
