I would try upgrading Guest Additions as you are running quite an old version
Since you are running such an older version of Guest Additions, I assume this has been working for a while until now? If you have an older copy of the VM image, I would try to see if this issue exists there. May provide clues as to what changed between then and now.
I would also check Windows log, provide more CPU/Memory to Windows to see if it helps.Guest Additions information report: Version 4.3.36 r105129 '4.3.36'

Re: Debian 10 host/ windows XP guest - crashing when MS Access launched
Given the title of the VM: "winnew20200611", I would guess this VM has existed since June. Possibly imported from an OVA (otherwise why the ancient GAs?).
The memory map seems a bit off. 3.9GB seems too much for XP on a host which only has 4.7GB free. 2GB is probably enough.

Many thanks for the suggestions - I have decreased the memory available, and it appears reasonably stable now.
If it starts crashing again, I will update the Guest Additions.
Fingers crossed, and thanks to all once again.
