[Explanation added by mod] User posted in an old topic in which the original OP had a corrupted VirtualBox.xml in the "\users\.VirtualBox" folder. Reinstalling VirtualBox will not delete VirtualBox.xml, so the recommendation was to delete the .VirtualBox folder and allow VirtualBox to recreate it, though the user would have to register all VMs again.
