Hi .
VirtualBox 6.1.12 r139181 (Qt 5.6.2)
Host Windows 10 Pro
Linux Guest openSuSE 15.2
VirtualBox Network Bridged Adapter to Hosts LAN interface
Promiscuous Mode: Allow All
On the guest I've got an application that is generating multicast traffic on two IP Addresses 224.0.51 & 224.0.41 both using ports defined by the user.
If I run tcpdump within the guest I can see these packets, but on the host and other virtual machines I can't see them.
On the host I've run wireshark and it detects no multicast, on other guests I've run tcpdump and I see no multicast.
I'm not to bothered about having the multicast between guests, but I need it to get into the host network.
Can anyone advise how to do this.
Thanks
No multicast from Linux Guest
Re: No multicast from Linux Guest

Re: No multicast from Linux Guest
Please provide the guest's .vbox fine so we can confirm this:
I am not skilled in troubleshooting multicast or wiresharking/tcpdumping, but I think those IP addresses are a little wonky:
Right-click the guest in the main Virtualbox window's guest list, choose Show in Explorer. Zip the guest's .vbox file, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.tomt wrote:VirtualBox Network Bridged Adapter to Hosts LAN interface

Re: No multicast from Linux Guest
I'll get the vbox file tomorrow.
The addresses should 224.0.1.41 &. 224.0.1.51
I have changed the metric on the vbox interface to 800 and that does appear to be working.. it wasn't the other day, but it is now!
I'll check again in the morning.

Glad you found something that works!
