USB can't be activated

Post by svenmatti »

Hello,

I have ubuntu and a VM running WinXP. I have installed the extension pack, but I can not aktivate the USB controler. It is visible, but not clickable.
What am I doing wrong?

Best

If the XP guest is still running, you need to shut down the guest first to activate the USB controller. These controllers behave like PCI cards to the guest OS, and it is a very rare computer that allows one to insert a PCI card while the computer is running.

Ooops, somehow my reply got lost.

Anyway, I installed the extension pack while the VM was closed, actually, the extension pack only installes itself it the VM is closed.

The VM was restarted several times, also computer was rebooted several times, no change.

BUT, now suddenly the USB-controller was activated for a second, I saw it, but now it's off again and it is not possible to activate it again. It's a bit magical.

Can you please show us in a screenshot attached via the forum's Upload Attachment tab exactly where this "USB controller" is that you are trying to activate?
