Hi I am running Ubuntu 18.04 on a Windows host with the latest build of VirtualBox.
Almost every time my laptop goes to sleep, my VM will restart back to the Ubuntu login screen (i.e. the machine seems to restart, all open applications are shut down and quite a few times now I have lost my work). I have no idea how to fix this, any suggestions appreciated.

Just to let you know, we aren't ignoring this. The forum is supported by volunteer free Virtualbox users, and folks have to hope a user who knows how to solve the problem comes along.
Unfortunately I don't know how to solve this one.

Re: On host sleep, Ubuntu VM restarts
Well, a simple workaround would be to prevent the laptop from going to sleep while the VM is running. For example, if you configure the laptop to go to sleep after <n> minutes, and shut down the guest OS before taking a break of more than <n> minutes, then the problem shouldn't occur.Oz91 wrote:I have no idea how to fix this, any suggestions appreciated.
If you want somebody to take a look, reproduce the problem, and provide a ZIP file containing VBox.log and VBox.log.1.

I'm not the OP, but am having the same problem. Here's a zip of the logs from when it fails on my machine.
