Slow video playback Win 7 guest on Win 10 host

Post by itm »

I am running a Windows 7 Pro guest on a Windows 10 host, using Virtualbox 6.0.18. I have installed the Guest Additions. All web-based video on the guest O/S (e.g. Youtube) is playing back in slow motion.
The host is a Ryzen 2700X CPU with 32GB RAM (66% utilised). The guest has 8GB RAM allocated to it.
Any ideas for how I can diagnose/fix this?

Start the guest from full normal shutdown, not save-state. Run until you see the problem happen, then shut down the guest from within the guest OS if possible. If not possible, close the Virtualbox window for the guest with the Power Off option set.

Right-click the guest in the main Virtualbox window's guest list, choose Show Log. Save the far left tab's log, zip it, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.

Thanks for your reply. So I did a 2nd power cycle and the problem has rectified itself - for now, at least. Fingers crossed...
