Try to set your proxy in the software you're using for the internet on the Guest. If that failes, use a Host Interface with bridge setup and try again with the proxy settings.

Hi,
i have a problem with proxies too.
I am using mobile internet with my iphone and my mac. the iphone and the mac connect using wireless lan. To make that work i have to use a proxy in the host system (OS X). For example safari works without any changes, but firefox needs some extra settings in the network tab, see below:
socks host: ip_adress_of the_modem port: 1080
then i changed a setting in about:config
network.proxy.socks_remote_dns -> true
that works fine. but i can´t get a connection in my browser in virtualbox. now i´m a bit helpless, can anybody help me with the settings in virtualbox? i´m using xp as guest system
Thanks for any help, much appreciated
