I'm running VBOX 5.x and want to go to 6.x but I do run 32 bit Windows XP guests. I saw this note, "Please also use version 5.2 if you still need support for 32-bit hosts, as this has been discontinued in 6.0"
Does that mean XP won't run under VBOX 6.x or does that mean it still runs but is unsupported? Are you running 32 bit XP on VBOX 6.x without issue?
Anyone running Windows XP 32 bit under VBOX 6.x?

You should have no trouble on this score. The 'guest' is the virtual machine, the 'host' is the physical PC.MNUser wrote:I do run 32 bit Windows XP guests. I saw this note, "Please also use version 5.2 if you still need support for 32-bit hosts
I run XP 32-bit under 6.0.14 and 6.1.10 (soon to be 6.1.12) just fine.
There is another issue you might run into if you run 3D acceleration in XP. 3D acceleration had a security hole big enough to drive an Australian road train through. So in 6.1.x they changed 3D to plug the hole, but 3D is now only available in Windows 7 and later.
If you have to run 3D acceleration in XP, stick with 6.0.x (6.0.14 was very stable in my opinion, my workstation host still uses it.) and ignore/dismiss the advisory popup that VboxVGA is going to be supplanted by VboxSVGA.
If you don't need or use 3D acceleration, 6.1.x will be fine.

Ah, crud, I didn't read that close enough. I had "guests" on the brain. That's actually great news because I only run a 64 bit host and it's good to know 32 bit guests are no problem. I don't use 3D acceleration.

Very good, you shouldn't have any problem in the bittedness.
