Hello, good afternoon, I have a problem that I have not been able to solve, I have tried everything I could, watching tutorials, etc. until I modified the VirtualBox.xml file, all this to be able to change the folder where the virtual machines are saved by default, but I keep getting this error.
I have little space on disk c: and I want the virtual machines that I create to be installed on another hard disk, but it won't let me create the machines, I thought you might know how to solve this here. Beforehand thank you very much.

Note that the Virtualbox files aren't supposed to be manually edited:

If you no longer have the original file, you might need to reset your Virtualbox. Please let us know if your Virtualbox is running on your edited file.

The way to change where new guests go is in the main Virtualbox window, File menu, Preferences, General, Default Machine Folder. Set this folder to where you want new guests made.

Old guests will stay where they are. However, you can right-click the guest in the guest list and choose Move, then you can move old guests to the secondary drive, too.

Yes, I spent a while with the changed file, but I returned it to how it was before, but it has not worked for me, I have tried several times what is proposed, but the same message continues to appear. I preferred to uninstall virtual box and delete all its folders and I want to reinstall it from scratch.
as I want it not to occupy space on the disk c: I will change the destination folder, I hope it works.
If you have any recommendations to avoid this problem, I would appreciate them.

Hello, good afternoon, I thought that when I uninstalled it and reinstalled it it would work and in part it did, I installed it normally then when creating the machine change the location to another disk
that I have and it worked for me. When I finished I already had the kali installed, then I turned it off and started it again later and started normally, but today when I start it tells me that it cannot log in for the virtual machine, I was seeing some solutions on the internet and none of them it worked.
for there listen that the 'VirtualBox Extension Pack' could be the culprit that must be installed. I don't really do it yet, but could that be?
There is also a disabled tab that says for EFI systems, I don't really know why I can't start the machine now. any help please be welcome

perfecto, logre solucionar el primer error, al parecer era un problema con la ubicación del programa mismo que yo había cambiado hacia otro disco ya que da la posibilidad de cambiar la ubicación, ahora despues de instalar la maquina virtual me aparece otro error, que como me indica lo publicare en otro tema. gracias.

There are issues that can develop when Virtualbox is not installed in the default location.
