Erratic mouse pointer in ubuntu running on Intel

Post by rpoulsen »

I get a erratic mouse pointer when hosting XP from Ubuntu Hardy Haron
To describe the problem:
Normaly the mouse works whitout any problems. But when running virtualbox and trying to host XP, the mousepointer gets erratic and jumps to the buttom of the screen and clicks at random (whitout me touching it)

I have a ibm x41 tablet, running on an Intel chipset.
I have searched the internet for some time now whitout getting any answar othere then to add i8042.nomux=1 to /boot/grub/menu.lst, this did not help at all.

Does anybody know a solution to this problem?

first of all. sorry for the missing info.

When running vbox 2.0.2 with guest Win XP, host Ubuntu Hardy Haron, my mouse pointer sometimes "jumps" to the buttom of the screen and clickes at random for a while and then the mouse functions fine again for some minuts, but then the whole thing repeats itself.

I have searched google for answares but the closest I came was to dactivate ACPI or/and add i8042.nomux=1 to /boot/grub/menu.lst.
This did not solve anything.

My system setup is:

Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 8.04.1

It's possible that your touchscreen or tablet is the problem. Try to disable those devices/functions and see how that works.
