After upgrade, a memory problem?

Post by jimoe »

opensuse Tumbleweed
linux 5.8.0

My computer updated, booted. An now this:

Code: Select all

Failed to start the virtual machine winxp-32.
Failed to load R0 module /usr/lib/virtualbox/VMMR0.r0: SUP_IOCTL_LDR_OPEN failed (VERR_NO_EXEC_MEMORY).
Failed to load VMMR0.r0 (VERR_NO_EXEC_MEMORY).
Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: ConsoleWrap
Interface: IConsole {872da645-4a9b-1727-bee2-5585105b9eed}
I have never seen this error message. It seems to say there is not enough memory? (Not true)

Same issue here and for many other Tumbleweed users who've dup'd and now have the 5.8 kernel. There are several posts on the subject on the openSUSE forum (go to the virtualization section). Bug reports have been filed with both openSUSE and VirtualBox. No solution yet, but there are workarounds, including going back to 5.7 until there's a fix.
