Hi,

I'm running virtualbox 2.0.2 on Vista. I have pointed the CD/DVD ROM at the ubuntu 8.0.4 AMD 64 iso. I start the VM and it brings up the Ubuntu start up screen with the options to install, test memory etc

No matter which option I choose it hangs the VM (VM is unresponsive to any further input.

is there a compatibility issue with using the 64 bit iso?

any ideas?

Regards

Paul

Your Host is (32/64 Bit)?

Your VBOX Version is (see upper)?

Exact Guest Settings are?

Exact Error Messages are?

In the logs are what messages?

Problem solved

Thanks for the pointers Stefan,

Problem was that I had assumed I was dealing with a 64-bit host (processor is 64-bit but version of vista is 32-bit), using the 32-bit ubuntu iso worked a treat.

FYI, if you see messages like below in your virtual box log file then its likely you have made the same mistake as I did:

00:00:57.507 PIIX3 ATA: LUN#2: CD-ROM block number 348282 invalid (READ)
00:00:57.508 Guest Log: BIOS: int13_cdrom: function 42, status 04 !
