USB in Kubuntu 8.04 and Windows XP guest

If you followed the guide above, you should be able to. Even though you created a new VDI, did you also create a new VM? If you use the old VM settings but a new VDI, it wouldn't have made a difference.

Sasquatch, seems there's a communication issue between us. :wink:

I'll repeat: I completely WIPED the old install. The new one is totally brand new. That means: new VB (PUEL), new VM, new VDI, new Windows install, new everything.

Now, I rechecked the guide lines to ensure everything is as it should be. It is.

USB still doesn't work.

Curiously my mouse is USB and it works on the VM. But pendrive, external USB HD. scanner and webcam don't.

When I point to the small USB icon in the bottom right of the VM window it says: "No USB device connected". When I right click on that icon it shows all of my USB devices, but I can't do anything with them as the items are grayed out.

And, as I said above, my USB mouse is the only one that works fine.

What could possibly be the mistery here?
