So I installed my first High Sierra VB on Catalina. Seems fine. System Updates of High Sierra available, didn't yet do them.
I cloned that High Sierra and with the help of some others on here I managed to get the clone working, then on the clone I installed VB Guest Additions, copy/paste fine, folder sharing (this is a cheat as its over a network protocol but its working), drag and drop no but not crucial.
Both the clone and the original using a bridged networking. The original regularly tells me updates available (e.g. to Safari 13.something) but the clone says nothing. Neither are logged into iCloud. Using AppStore/Updates gives nothing available on the clone but on the original the updates are there for the updating. Wierd. Everything is the same on the two machines except I installed the Guest Additions on the clone. Both are running Safari 11.something (showing that the update has not been done).
I'm baffled. Why no updates available showing on the clone ???????
So cloning+guest-additions has somehow made the updates not available. How?
