Need your expert help .
I installed the Virtual Box VirtualBox-6.1.12-139181-Win.exe on my Host PC, Window 10 , with 32GB RAM
After I installed a Window XP Pro onto the Box, it opens fine. Detail as shown in XPVMdetail.jpg.
However , when I shut down the PC and next day start up the PC and launched the V Box again,
I had this hardening message of Invalid (malformed) file/path name as shown in the VMError.jpg File.
I had tried the following one by one with no success,
1. discard saved states,
2. increase RAM to 6 GB,
3. reload the Virtual Box 6.1.12
4. reinstall C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\drivers\vboxdrv\VBoxDrv.inf and
go to command prompt restart ' sc start vboxdrv'
5. go to Windows 10 , Run regedit, and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\services\vboxdrv/ImagePath
and where it says "\SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\VBoxDrv.sys", I replaced it with the direct path
C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\drivers\vboxdrv\VBoxDrv.inf and right click the follwing file and install it.
I also went to command prompt and run 'sc.exe query vboxdrv',
Looking at the output below, it looks like the driver is running OK, or am I wrong?
SERVICE_NAME: vboxdrv
TYPE : 1 KERNEL_DRIVER
STATE : 4 RUNNING
(STOPPABLE, NOT_PAUSABLE, IGNORES_SHUTDOWN)
WIN32_EXIT_CODE : 0 (0x0)
SERVICE_EXIT_CODE : 0 (0x0)
CHECKPOINT : 0x0
WAIT_HINT : 0x0
6. Went to Windows 10 Advanced Startup Options, BIOS UEFI FIRMWARE, and confirmed Intel Virtualization Technology is Enabled.
I went to the VBoxHardening.log as attached and I do not have the knowledge to decipher the problem.
C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\drivers\vboxdrv\VBoxDrv.sys and repeated step 4 to ensure it is installed.
Really appreciate some guidance to tackle this. It is so great when I first saw the VM XP worked.
Many thanks

Re: Hardenning errors, invalid malformed path
I see an overwhelming number of references to Avast! in the Hardening Log. As a first step, try turning off "Enable hardware-assisted virtualization" in Avast's settings if it is enabled, as that may be blocking VirtualBox's need to be able to access the same feature (VT-x).
