Hi,

This is a tiny issue, but was wondering if it is a bug, or something from my side.

- Host = win10
- Guest = winXP
- I always run in seamless mode.
- After updating to 6.1.12 r139181 (Qt5.6.2) and I open guest, it is not full screen.
- However, when I click on "full-screen mode" and then back to "seamless mode", seamless mode is now full screen.
- I have to do this every time I start a new session.
- I have included the log file.

Any suggestions?

3D acceleration doesn't exist for XP guests in 6.1.x, so what happens if you disable it?

No difference after:
1) ejecting GA CD
2) unchecking 3d acceleration

Still the same issue where I must click on full-screen first, then seamless to get it full screen in seamless view.

Well, what version of VirtualBox did you upgrade from? If this is a regression introduced in 6.1.12 then you really ought to raise the matter in the Discuss the 6.1.12 release topic.

If the problem was not introduced in 6.1.12 then it would be useful to pinpoint the version at which it was introduced... as well as checking if the problem is in the GAs or in the host code.

I should perhaps mention that I see seamless mode as a crutch, and a bit pointless. I think of the VM and the host as being separate PCs, so I don't find it helpful to create an illusion that they are one. I think the devs will be forever fighting against the API changes in Windows trying to preserve this unhelpful illusion, so maybe best to ditch it. Think of running a VM as more akin to RDPing into another PC.

I thought I upgraded from 6.1.10, but now I am wondering if it was 6.0.22? The reason for my uncertainty is that I normally just download the latest version when the link appears when opening Vbox, however, I recall the last time the link was not active and I manually went to the download page to get the latest version. Is there a way for me to know what my previous version was?

The guest logs, in the first line of each log, tell what version that run if the guest happened under.

Find a guest you definitely ran under the previous version but haven't started more than three times under the new version. Look at the guest logs, of which there are 4 maximum. The final log vbox.log.3 should show the previous version.
