Can't Establish SSH connection to Guest Linux Server from other PC

So I set up Ubuntu Server on VirtualBox running on Windows 10 Home.

My goal is to work on some database programming by using Putty to remote in to the server from my laptop, also running Win 10 Home.

I followed the tutorial on how to set up networking in pretty much exactly this scenario ... but it's not working. I can't SSH in or even ping the server. Let me know what files or information would be useful and I will provide it. I appreciate the help.

A description of what network setup your tutorial asked for would help.

Also, Right-click the guest in the main Virtualbox window's guest list, choose Show in Explorer. Zip the guest's .vbox file, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.

I attempted to follow this tutorial from the FAQ: viewtopic.php?f=35&t=42385

My /etc/networks/interfaces file is as follows:

Code: Select all

auto eth1
iface eth1 inet static
address 192.168.56.10
netmask 255.255.255.0

auto eth2
iface eth2 inet static
address 192.168.0.200
netmask 255.255.255.0
My network settings on the guest are:

Code: Select all

Adapter 1: NAT
Adapter 2: Host Only Adapter / VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter\
Adapter 3: Bridged Adapter / My Realtek Chipset Wireless Adapter (I can't run a hard line to the PC in it's current location.)
I've rebooted the guest, the host and my laptop and attempted to SSH in to the guest from my laptop using the IP address of 192.168.0.200 via PuTTy. That did not work and I was unable to ping that location either. We traveled past the extent of my networking skills a while ago, so I'm not sure how else to troubleshoot.
Also, Right-click the guest in the main Virtualbox window's guest list, choose Show in Explorer. Zip the guest's .vbox file, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.
Done.
