Running Windows 10 version 1909 and have recently installed this month's KB4565483 Cumulative Update (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4565483) bringing my build number to 18363.959. Prior to this, I did not have any problems with VirtualBox.
When I try to install Windows 10, I now receive the below error where the installer would normally restart the machine:
VirtualBox crashes during W10 installation
Re: VirtualBox crashes during W10 installation
Just to quickly add that disabling [3d Acceleration/b] temporarily fixes this issue.

Start the guest from full normal shutdown, not save-state. Run until you see the problem happen, then shut down the guest from within the guest OS if possible. If not possible, close the Virtualbox window for the guest with the Power Off option set.
Right-click the guest in the main Virtualbox window's guest list, choose Show Log. Save the far left tab's log, zip it, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.

Re: VirtualBox crashes during W10 installation
I was able to reproduce the error. When the error message box was displayed, I was not able to shutdown the VM gracefully. When I pressed the OK button in the message error window, the VM guest window closed and returned me to the main VirtualBox window where the VM showed as "Aborted" - right clicking it did not show me any obvious options to set power it off.scottgus1 wrote:Start the guest from full normal shutdown, not save-state. As requested, please find attached the VBox.log exported into a ZIP file.

Re: VirtualBox crashes during W10 installation
Nvidia just put out a driver package that has an unsigned dll file that fails Virtualbox's security checks. 3D acceleration uses host vide drivers to calculate guest video, and the bad dll in red above prevents this from working. Turning off 3D acceleration causes the host video drivers to not be used.00:00:03.008863 supR3HardenedErrorV: supR3HardenedScreenImage/LdrLoadDll: rc=VERR_CR_X509_CPV_NOT_VALID_AT_TIME fImage=1 fProtect=0x0 fAccess=0x0 \Device\HarddiskVolume7\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nv_dispi.inf_amd64_e92a0ac2e05fb2ca\

Get on with Nvidia, or roll back / downgrade the Nvidia drivers. Try their forums, too, this has been discussed for a few days and someone may have a goid set if drivers to try.

This is technically not correct (and perhaps you don't want it repeated elsewhere in your name?).scottgus1 wrote:Nvidia just put out a driver package that has an unsigned dll file that fails Virtualbox's security checks.
The DLL file in question (and several others) are signed twice: The Microsoft WHQL signature is perfectly valid, but the NVIDIA signature is invalid because of an expired certificate used. For most software (Microsoft Windows included) this will be totally fine, only the VirtualBox hardening code is quite picky.

Re: VirtualBox crashes during W10 installation
I have the same issues with nVidia's latest drivers. 451.48 through 451.67 cause vboxsvc crashes and results in the inability to use 3d acceleration or resize guest windows. Downgrading to 446.14 (The most recent version prior to 451.xx) driver works properly.
