Linux guest media problems

Post by DBAlex »

Hi.

I am running Virtual Box 6.1.10 r138449 (Qt5.6.2) on a Widows 10 host.

On every Linux VM that I created, I had media problems. I tried Fedora, CentOS and Ubuntu and all of them halts installation because of media problem. I downloaded ISO files many times, erased faulty VMs and started installtion again, and I always have the same problem.

On my last time trying to install Ubuntu, installation halted with following message:

the installer encoutered an error copying files to the hard disk.
[errno 5] Input/output error
this is often due to a faulty CD/DVD disk or drive, or a fault hard disk.
......
Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

This might happen if Hyper-V is enabled.

Start the guest from full normal shutdown, not save-state. Run until you see the problem happen, then shut down the guest from within the guest OS if possible. If not possible, close the Virtualbox window for the guest with the Power Off option set.

Right-click the guest in the main Virtualbox window's guest list, choose Show Log. Save the far left tab's log, zip it, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.
