Unable to delete snapshots as some snapshot files are missing

I have virtualbox installed in a Windows laptop. I am running a Ubuntu guest with a dynamic VDI file (virtual size 90G and actual size 24GB). I have around 10 snapshots of this OS. Due to the increased disk usage of snapshots, I tried to delete one of the snapshot. For some reason, the delete failed. When I tried to delete it again, it failed with the error saying "snapshot VDI missing". As a temporary measure I deleted another VM's VDI file to make space. But now the disk usage is again increasing. So i tried to delete the corrupt snapshots by copying other small snapshot vdi files and renaming it as the missing files and then setting the correct uuid and parent uuid using vboxmanage. But this failed during merge stage of delete. I need to urgently make space in my disk. Please help
