ATI graphics card on Ubuntu over Vista

I'm trying to set up a virtual machine running Ubuntu on top of Vista Home Express Edition (everybody is trying to make me change, if not to XP at least to Vista Business, but I would like to stick with this OS for some more time, if possible). The only problem I got so far is that Ubuntu isn't recognizing my graphics card; not only can I not install the drivers, I can't seem to find it.
For all it matters, though I still think the problem would remain no matter which graphic card it would be, the graphics card is an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650.
On the matter of finding the correct drivers for Ubuntu, ATI and Toshiba aren't of much help. but I found this (http://thevistaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=42907) that should work. However EnvyNG says it can't find the graphics card.

Is it any problem of Vista or something I didn't set up in virtualbox that's keeping Ubuntu from acknowledging the card? I did specify 256 MB of dedicated graphic memory when I created the virtual machine...

I'd start by reading the manual and doing a search here for video...

the virtual machine has no knowledge of your real hardware. I'm assuming that you did not install the guest additions in your ubuntu guest?

That would be a good place to start

Thanks, I've googled further and was just realizing there was such thing as the guest additions. :-) I'll start there. Do you think Compiz will run after that? (Mainly I just want a better resolution, but that would also be great.)
I think I've only came to understand the concept of virtual machine at this point.

No... there is no 3d in the virtual world.

Compiz i believe was designed to utilize 3d hardware

See the VirtualBox FAQ for more graphical answers.

Sorry:) I usually wouldn't open a topic, but I really didn't know what was going on, so I didn't know what to search for.
