Mandriva 2007.1 and 2008.0 vertical green bars on shutdown

Post by rskunath »

On both Mandriva 2007.1 and 2008(.0 and .1) I am seeing a Windows 2k guest OS oddity.

Rather than shutting down the guest OS and closing the VirtualBox window as has been the case in the past, now the window is left open and filled with vertical green lines. These look to be spaced about a character apart. I have to manually power off the machine to get the VB window to close.

This is new behavior.

Any ideas as to what's going on?

Could you post a screenshot of the occurence? Also give the settings of the VM as we ask in the Forum Posting Guide. Thanks.

I grabbed a screenshot of the settings summary and a screenshot of the VM that fails to close. Not sure how to attach them to get them posted? Let me know and I'll send them.

Let me know if you need more info.

This occurs using Nvidia and Intel video hardware on the Mandriva machines.

I get the screen with the green lines after Start -> Shutdown via the Windows guest. When I close the VM window, Vbox asks whether to power ofrf the machine. Answering yes closes the window. In past versions, the VM would close completely on it's own.

I'm seeing some posts regarding this issue on other sites...

Folks seem to think this is due to a bug in the guest additions for 2.0.2 and that 2.0.0 guest additions does not exhibit the issue. (Linux host, W2k OS as guest.)

Any ideas as to when the guest addition bug might be addressed?

If there is a ticket for it, then it will be fixed asap, probably in the next release.

I didn't see a ticket mentioned, but apparently others are seeing the issue.

Hoping for a resolution in the next release.
