Win7 64 guest on Win7 64 host: works fine, then after reboot, very slow

Post by helloyou »

I have a Win7 64 host, running VirtualBox 6.0.22 (I also tried with 6.1.10, same problem).

I just installed a Win7 64 guest, everything works perfectly well during the first boots after install. Everything is smooth (I have a SSD).
Then after a reboot or two, everything becomes horribly slow, the mouse moves slowly. This is very strange, because I just did a few reboots of the VM, without any modification in the settings.

I have an Intel i5, with all the virtualization settings enabled in BIOS.

Do you have any idea?

Would downgrade to Vbox 5 improve things?

Thanks

Start the guest from full normal shutdown, not save-state. Run until you see the problem happen, then shut down the guest from within the guest OS if possible. If not possible, close the Virtualbox window for the guest with the Power Off option set.

Right-click the guest in the main Virtualbox window's guest list, choose Show Log. Save the far left tab's log, zip it, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.

It is probably just Windows 7 getting its updates sorted. Even on a physical machine that can take a lo-o-ng time. I would just leave it running overnight.
