Nvidia driver incompatibility

Last night I received an update an update for my 2060 through windows update to version 27.21.14.5125, I am using VirtualBox 6.1.8 with current guest additions.

With 3D acceleration turned on my VMs have become completely inoperational. Attempting to shut down through file -> close causes VirtualBox to crash.

With 3D acceleration turned off my VMs are completely functional.

I tried installing the latest drivers from NVidia'a site and the problem is unchanged.

I took a crack at fixing this unsuccessfully.

I disabled 3D acceleration and booted.

From device manager I uninstalled VirtualBox's display driver with the delete files option, then shut down.

I enabled 3D acceleration was able to successfully boot.

I reinstalled guest additions and when the display drivers attempted to install the system became unresponsive with a black screen and just the mouse pointer.

BTW I am noticing that I forgot to mention above both host and guest are Windows 10 64bit.

Sometimes Nvidia fails to sign a graphics driver dll, which causes a Virtualbox hardening block on the dll, and prevents 3D from working.

Start the guest from full normal shutdown, not save-state. Run until you see the problem happen, then shut down the guest from within the guest OS if possible. If not possible, close the Virtualbox window for the guest with the Power Off option set.

Right-click the guest in the main Virtualbox window's guest list, choose Show Log. Save the far left tab's log and the hardening log, zip them, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.

I will grab a log when I am home again, likely tomorrow.

For now the only extra info I can offer is that after waiting for quite some time I was able to get into device manager and the Virtualbox display adapter is indeed listed with a yellow triangle. The system is so glitchy though that this was all I was able to see.

No update regarding this problem? I am having the same problem after upgrade the NVidia driver. Found a related link, seems like the problem is on Virtualbox.

Oracle and Nvidia are working on it. Meanwhile, see fth0's suggestion:

Workarounds:
Downgrade host video drivers to the drivers you had before or try more recent but not latest drivers.
Turn off 3D acceleration in the guests.
