drag and drop files bi-directionally between HostOS (Linux Mint) and Windows Guest (Win7)

Post by Joe890 »

Hello forum

I would like to drag&drop files bidirectionally between the HostOS (LinuxMint 18) and GuestOS (Windows7)
and vice versa. GuestAdditions are installed in the Windows GuestOS and the following "options"
are activated:

- In VBox: Settings -> Generral -> Advanced -> Drag'n Drop: (x) Bidirectional
- In Windows-GustOS: Devices -> Drag and Drop -> (x) Bidirectional

Drag&drop files from the Linux Mint Desktop to the Windows7-GuestOS-desktop does sometimes work,
but not from the VM to the Host :-(

Once the following error-message was shown trying to drag&drop files (but I am unable to reproduce it..)

After trying to drag/drop a file, the following error message is shown:

Error-Message:
Drag and drop operation from guest to host failed.
Drag and drop error from guest (VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND).
Result Code: VBOX_E_IPRT_ERROR (0x80BB0005)
Component: GuestWrap
Interface: IGuest {13a11514-402e-022e-6180-c3944de3f9c8}

Question:
What I am doing wrong?

Thank you very much!

Relying on Drag-n-drop.

:lol:

I like to have Virtualbox's functions working, and I am a big fan and longtime user, but I don't like Drag-n-drop. However it's implemented does not work smoothly, and I have had guests seize and require a ungraceful power-off to get out of the seizure.

Guest Additions Shared Folders have been solid and successful for file/folder transfer every time for a decade.
