I am trying to virtualize pfsense (for routing and firewall) and openwrt (for WIFI) on a small PC unit. I started with xcp-ng where I had both pfsense and openwrt installed but openwrt did not recognize my WIFI wireless card. I am trying to install pfsense and openwrt on a lubuntu virtualbox (on different HD). I started with pfsense but I am having issue with internet download speed.
XCP-ng: Download=90 Mbps (with VPN 70 Mbps); Upload= 18 Mbps (with VPN 12 Mbps)
lubuntu/virtualbox: Download=90 Mbps (with VPN 8 Mbps); Upload= 18 Mbps (with VPN 16 Mbps)
I am not sure why the download is significantly low when VPN is on in the lubuntu/virtualbox but is similar to XCP-ng with VPN is off.
Any thoughts or suggestion will be appreciated.
