Lack of internet

I have just installed VirtualBox 6.1.10 on Windows 10 and setup Windows XP as a guest (I am trying to run an old program that only works as far as XP).
I need to activate XP, also MS Office but whilst I can ping an internet site (e.g. googledotcom) and have installed Firefox 52.9.0 - which I am using now - XP and Office can't connect to the internet. What is going wrong? VirtualBox is set as NAT.
TIA

If you can ping an internet site and use an old Firefox from with the XP VM as you say, then you do have full internet access.

The problem is more likely to be that Microsoft appears to have silently and finally deactivated the online XP Activation Servers (unless anyone knows different). You might still be able to activate XP using the 'old school' telephone activation system, or try the link given towards the end of this Microsoft Community thread: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/win ... 46c86b3f6b

I managed to get it activated by a phone call - very helpful person at the other end. The internet problem was that Windows XP was trying to access 'the internet' and reporting 'no internet' back, rather than my browser. I now have Firefox running and all seems OK.

Sorry for pinging an old post, but since Intel removed the XP drivers, where else could I find those drivers?

dave_crosshaw, what drivers are you referring to?
