Win10 Guest slow performance

Post by newbie_yong »

I have been searching for the solution, but couldn't find any thread that can help with my problem. As the topic, I am running Windows 10 Guest on my Windows 10 laptop. The guest is very laggy, when I click on the start button or open This PC, or open Task Manager, it will delay at least 0.5 - 1 second, which irritates me. The animation of fade in/out or pop in/out also laggy. I believe my laptop has a good spec to at least run a Windows 10 guest smoothly. Attached the log. I appreciate any helps. Thanks!

Nothing in the log seems egregious, except maybe core count. Try reducing guest core count from 4 to 2. More cores will slow down a guest OS, due to extra scheduling overhead by the host OS and hypervisor. Extra cores will only help when the guest has more than the existing cores' bandwidth of solid data to push through. 2 cores' worth of data will run slower on four cores than on two.

Thanks for the recommendation, have reduced to 2 cores, seems like a bit smoother, but overall still laggy, I am really curious about it.
