Need help configuring second nic

I'm running VB (6.1.4) on my Surface 6 and I have SuSE LEAP as a guest. I'm using wifi on my surface to get to the internet (as well as SuSE) and it works fine.

I'm trying to setup a USB ethernet adapter in VB (and on SuSE) so I can access a test computer in my office via SuSE (my guest). Network 1 is 10.0.0.x (my wifi) and I want to use 10.9.9.x for my test computers. I would like to give my USB adapter a static IP (say 10.9.9.5) if possible because I would like to be able to access SuSE via RDP.

What would be the best way to setup my USB ethernet adapter so I can set it up as a second nic in SuSE??

Thanks!

Carefully go through USB basics and troubleshooting. If you finish all the steps 1-7 and cannot get your USB device into the guest OS, carefully post the outputs of the commands in step 8 as text in

Code: Select all

tags, not screenshots. Zip and post the log step 8 calls for, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.

Once you have the guest OS recognizing the USB device as a network adapter, use typical network configuration methods to connect to your computers through the USB adapter.

So, my ADD kicked in right around #2. What if I used my Suface's Dock which has a nic in it? So, my wifi will go to my LAN and my dock will be used for the private network in SuSE. How would i configure the dock?

That might work. Bridge the second guest network adapter to the dock network adapter.

That worked! Sorta. I disabled my wifi in VB guest Network settings and now it works! I guess i just need to turn it on and off as needed.
