I'm a raw new user to any VM. I want to play with Linux as I am tired of not being able to run certain MMO games in Win10. Problems with Glyph and Steam for example.
Anyway, I installed Vbox 6.1 with no issues. I downloaded the ISO file for Ubuntu 20.04.
I then loaded Vbox and attempted to install Ubuntu. Everything seemed to go well until I hit the "settings" icon to set up Ubuntu. The small window opened as it should. Then the "Ok" button grayed out to the unusable state and a very small error report opened at the bottom of the window. Screenshots of the issue are included. No matter what I did, uninstall, reinstall, download new ISO files, host system reboots nothing solved the issue. So, I'm here for help. Also included is a Belarc Advisor file of my system.

Re: Ubuntu 20.04 will not install in VirtualBox 6.1
This is the relevant error message from you screenshot. Hardware virtualization (VT-X or AMD-v) is required but is not enabled in your host OS. You will get no further until you enable it.

Thank you. The wording of the error message had me cnfused. I was unsure if the issue resided in the VM/Ubuntu files or on the host machine. Now, to figure out how to do the fix!BillG wrote:This is the relevant error message from you screenshot. Hardware virtualization (VT-X or AMD-v) is required but is not enabled in your host OS. Re: Ubuntu 20.04 will not install in VirtualBox 6.1
Go through every step in I have a 64bit host, but can't install 64bit guests. Either the 'virtualization technology' switch in your PC's BIOS is off, or Hyper-V or some other program is stealing it and not letting Virtualbox use it.
Re: Ubuntu 20.04 will not install in VirtualBox 6.1
I'd like to thank both of you.
After much mucking about in the ASUS UEFI BIOS settings, I finally found and enabled VHA for the Intel chip.
Virtual Box and Ubuntu are working fine now.
I need to watch some videos on setting Ubuntu 20.04 up. I damn near wiped my boot drive by mistake.
Thank you both again.
