Windows 10 host and winxp client

Post by jdftwrth »

Hi

I am sure that this question has been asked many times and I appologize for asking it again but I am stumped.

I have been trying to get winxp to run as a virtual machine under vbox which is running on windows 10.

I have it running but I can't get connected to the internet under windows xp, the network connection is active but I can't get out to the internet.

I did a basic install and start of the winxp machine

My win 10 network adapters are:

Lease Obtained: Tuesday, June 9, 2020 7:36:49 AM
Lease Expires: Wednesday, June 10, 2020 7:36:49 AM
IPv4 Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
IPv4 DHCP Server: 192.168.1.1
IPv4 DNS Server: 192.168.1.1
IPv4 WINS Server:
NetBIOS over Tcpip Enabled: Yes
IPv6 Address: 2600:6c56:7100:4c3:88c3:df0c:aca4:3f83
Temporary IPv6 Address: 2600:6c56:7100:4c3:a0fd:a10a:b791:7f
Link-local IPv6 Address: fe80::88c3:df0c:aca4:3f83%17
IPv6 Default Gateway: fe80::6238:e0ff:fea1:27df%17
IPv6 DNS Servers: 2600:6c56:7100:4c3:6238:e0ff:fea1:27df, 2600:6c56:7100:4c3:6238:e0ff:fea1:27df

I am really at a loss on what to do, any help would be greatly appreciated

Yes it has :lol: and there's even a sticky on it: No internet for a WinXP/98/95 guest
To cut to the chase, if you can ping Google at 8.8.8.8 in your XP guest command prompt, then your guest has an internet connection. The lack of browser & system connectivity is because XP and modern internet don't speak the same language anymore.
