Virtualbox not detecting USB ports of Windows 7 host

I am having the strangest problem. Virtualbox doesn't detect anything I insert into the USB ports of the Windows 7 host even though they are fine on the host. I installed the extensions but they are only to interface with the guest when they are recognized by the host Virtualbox program so it didn't help. This install was migrated from another PC so I thought that might be the problem and reinstalled Virtualbox, but that didn't fix the issue. I installed the USB driver and the usb service is running. I even tried disabling USB legacy modes and compatibility in the BIOS, but nothing so far has worked. All my other PC's detect the USB's perfectly. What is going on here?

"No USB devices are listed
Something is not right with the installation of the VirtualBox USB filter. If you are on Linux, are you a member of the "vboxusers" group? Did you verify it? Did you logout/login or reboot? If you're on Windows did you try reinstalling VirtualBox with the Run-As-Administrator option?"

Tried running as administrator and it still didn't work.
vboxmanage list usbhost it says host USB devices: <none>
vboxmanage list usbfilters I get Global USB filters <none>

I don't have a c:\users\virtualbox directory to supply the vboxsvc.log. Is there an alternate location?

I found the log directory but VitualBox didn't make one. I don't think this is solvable. I installed it on my other PC and it just works. I may just have to use it on there. The problem is with VirtualBox itself as it should always detect the USB's of the host.

That's C:\Users\{you}\.Virtualbox

Reinstalling a Windows MSI program remembers the last choices made when the program was previously installed. If the previous install turned off the USB driver installation, it was off when you reinstalled. Try the right-click-Run-As-Admin install again, check carefully that the USB drivers will be installed. Also check that your Windows install parameters don't silently reject drivers <- I don't know how to do this, web-search it.

Previous install was working. I cloned the drive and put it on another PC. I uninstalled and reinstalled with admin privileges. All drivers I approved. The network works just not the USB. The guest OS works perfectly except no USB. It might be an undocumented bug with Virtualbox.

OK, check to see if you have any other programs installed that plug into USB. Network sniffers, antivirus, etc.

BTW cloning to another drive in a different PC wasn't necessary and probably changed the hardware the installed OS saw for the Virtualbox reinstall. A simple reinstall of Virtualbox with careful checking of all drivers was all that was necessary. (Though a disk image when changing installed programs is always a good idea.) It appears you did di this in the midst of other things, so that's good.
