Breaking change in 6.1.x?

I discovered that the kernel image downloaded during a Debian installation always results in a hash mismatch. The issue is described here and is not only limited to kernel images:
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/610 ... virtualbox
This is a very serious issue, that needs to be fixed ASAP.
I have WSL2 enabled, but no Hyper-V or anything of that sort. Using Virtual Box 6.1.8 with Debian Testing as of June 1st.

If WSL2 is enabled then Hyper-v is enabled as well. Because one requires the other.
Read the FAQ, especially posts #2 and beyond:
FAQ: I have a 64bit host, but can't install 64bit guests.
And no, this is not a "breaking change in 6.1.x". The issue has existed since Hyper-v has existed. Notice the posting dates in the FAQ.

Start the guest from full normal shutdown, not save-state. Run until you see the problem happen, then shut down the guest from within the guest OS if possible. If not possible, close the Virtualbox window for the guest with the Power Off option set.
Right-click the guest in the main Virtualbox window's guest list, choose Show Log. Save the far left tab's log, zip it, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.

If the vm is running in "turtle" mode (which it will be with WSL2 enabled), checksum errors is a known issue. There is even a post about it in the forum.
