Unusual Network Interfaces

Post by dsnx91 »

Hello community,

I've recently started to use virtualbox again after some time. I decided to check which hosts are alive using netdiscover. There should only be three interfaces up. Two hosts and the gateway. But my scan is showing many hosts and the name of the manufacturer is pcs systemtechnik gmbh. Does anybody know who or what that could mean? Thanks in advance.

P.s
These additional hosts are on the vbox(hostonly adapter)

Hint: PCS Systemtechnik GmbH and Cadmus Computer Systems are the official (former?) owners of the Ethernet MAC OUI 08:00:27, which is used by VirtualBox.

Thanks for the clarification. Almost every ip on the 192.168.56.0-255 network was alive and some of the MAC addresses indicated that they were manufactured from PCS Systemtechnik GmbH. So odd that my scan reveals so many live IP's even though I'm using two virtual machines.
