Upgrade to 6.1.8 no Vms

Post by ddoc »

Hi folks

I just upgraded to 6.1.8 and now I cannot see any of my Vms.

I went back into 'file - > preferences - > General - Default machine folder and the folder was correct. VMs in that folder but nothing appearing in vbox manager.

If I try to add a machine I am told it cannot be added as the machine I am adding has the same UUID as an existing virtual machine.

Any clues?

regards

Not being able to see any guests when starting Virtualbox is often from logging in on a different account.

Virtualbox stores the configuration file, which keeps among other things the guest list, in the account's user folder, see https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch10. ... configdata. If you log in on a different account, Virtualbox will see a different user folder and have no guests.

The error you have is not supposed to happen if you just log into a different account, though. The same guest can be loaded on different accounts.

So something else is wrong. Maybe the guest list has been collapsed? Try moving the mouse just about to the left of the main Virtualbox window. Just before the mouse cursor changes to the left-right arrow <-> to move the side of the window, it may turn to the grab-middle-separator -||- icon. If it does, drag the -||- to the right.
