Older Linux with VMware to new Linux with VirtualBox

Hi,
Over the years, I have spent good money buying and having to upgrade VMware. One cannot run an older copy of VMware on a newer version of Linux. This is quite intentional on the part of VMware. The cost of always upgrading is wearing thin.
I would like to shift various VMs from VMware to VirtualBox without destroying them and their activations. As you may be aware, neither XP nor Win7 are supported by Windows anymore. It is best to not destroy their credentials !!
Is there a method of transferring the VMware machines to VirtualBox without re-activation ?? These machines have have been used for a long time with a lot of data and configurations that will not be possible to repeat.
Rgds,
Steve
