Well, this certainly won't be helping...
00:00:04.553984 Host RAM: 8097MB (7.9GB) total, 2014MB available
...
00:00:04.729546 RamSize <integer> = 0x0000000200000000 (8 589 934 592, 8 192 MB, 8.0 GB)
No 8GB host can possibly have a spare 8GB RAM to give to the VM. You need to add more RAM to this host, or shut down a few apps. Failing that, the most RAM you can afford to give this VM is 1024MB.
00:00:05.801217 CPUM: Physical host cores: 2
...
00:00:04.729543 NumCPUs <integer> = 0x0000000000000004 (4)
You have a 2 core host (yes, 4 threads, but nobody cares about threads). The host needs cores too, so by rights you shouldn't assign more than 1 core to a VM.
00:00:04.730534 VRamSize <integer> = 0x0000000000800000 (8 388 608, 8 MB)
I can't see any modern OS being happy with only 8MB of graphics RAM. The minimum should be around 48MB.

Let's see where that takes you.

(*) One more thing. I have no idea what Hortonworks Sandbox is, but if it involves virtualization then it may not work inside a VirtualBox VM.
