6.1.8 very very slow with older vm

Post by megaabite »

upgraded from 5.2.26 to 6.1.8

6.1.8 displays list of existing vm's.

launched one of them. then waited. and waited. and waited. half an hour later still not past Windows initial splash screen.

running from external USB3 SSD. normally boots in under a minute.

why is this so slow now? is there anythig I can do?

Start the guest from full normal shutdown, not save-state. Run until you see the problem happen, then shut down the guest from within the guest OS if possible. If not possible, close the Virtualbox window for the guest with the Power Off option set.

Right-click the guest in the main Virtualbox window's guest list, choose Show Log. Save the far left tab's log, zip it, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.

I believe this problem and your other post viewtopic.php?f=6&t=98331 are the same issue, the logs will tell.

If the other post's log is from the same host PC as this guest, then Hyper-V is on, see the other post for a fix for both issues.

Yeah. Hyper-V was the problem.

Thanks.
