Two USB Questions for a Windows 7 Host/Guest System

I have two questions that perhaps somebody can help me with.
1) I recently attempted to add USB support to one of my guest Windows 7 virtual machines. Under the guest's machine's USB settings, I added a Seagate USB device filter. When I started up the guest Windows 7 machine, VirtualBox automatically loaded a new device driver to the HOST machine without prompting me in any way. It simply installed the driver, giving a notification in the system tray area. How do I find out what was installed, and how would I remove it if I need to later on?
2) My attempt to access my external USB drive in the guest Windows 7 machine did not work. I tried removing the filter mentioned above from settings (not the driver installed to the host, but the filter in the settings), but that didn't help. The check mark in the USB system tray icon in the guest machine was checked. But I kept getting a failure message at the top of the guest whenever it was started saying that the USB capability had failed. Is there any good instructions available anywhere describing how to get USB drive access working in a Windows 7 guest?
Thank you.
