Hi all,

I am unable to run VirtualBox 6.1.6.

I tried downloading the latest 6.1.8 from the website but still recieve the same error when launching the setup file to update VirtualBox.

That is a pre-release version of Windows 10 which is not supported. Use the released version (version 1909 build 18363) or the soon to be released version 2004 build 19041.

Well, found the solution here. Because going back to a previous build would require a format and loss of data.

As BillG mentions, Virtualbox does not chase the Preview versions of Windows. (most likely because Oracle's paying customers, who define the direction Virtualbox takes, don't run their businesses on Preview Windows.)

The link's fix is to make things possibly more unstable.

There is a subforum where Virtualbox-on-Preview guru Jacob Klein has been reporting what versions work on what Previews: viewforum.php?f=38

Sounds like more hardware virtualization applications creeping in to the OS. Core isolation was already a known offender.
