VM Crashing / Unbuntu 32-bit

Post by brandonx76 »

Hi there - Having random but consistent crashing - say within 20-30 minutes. VM screen goes dark. Running a metasploitable VM direct from their site.

I tried enabling use host i/o cache but no luck / same behavior

Running on a single cpu. Any suggestions appreciated.

Start the guest from full power off, not save-state. Run until you see the problem happen, then shut down the guest from within the guest OS if possible. If not possible, close the Virtualbox window for the guest with the Power Off option set.

Please right-click the guest in the main Virtualbox window's guest list, choose Show Log. Save the far left tab's log, zip the log file, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.

Thanks for help. I think I figured it out. I ran suggestions made here: https://youtu.be/VIBdY-5zr58 , as I was trying VM Ware as an alternative. It seems to have fixed that issue, but now my Oracle VM sessions are fine...

It's either THAT or understating 'ctrl-alt' re-awakens the machine, but I don't think so because I tried damn near every keyboard combo whenever it crashed. Anyway, just circling back and appreciate the help
