Both 6.0.20 and corresponding extension pack appeared to install normally but when I tried to run Linux Lite under Win 7 the err msg appeared- "Fatal: could not read from boot medium". How do I determine which boot device (hard disk or optical) and the path used to id the boot data is being looked for ?
Note that 'Guest Adds' was not intentionally installed - could this be the cause ??
Thanx.

The default setup for a new guest is to attempt boot from a virtual floppy drive, then the virtual CD drive, then the virtual hard disk. If your guest has a bootable Linux Live-CD ISO file in the guest's CD drive, then the guest will boot from that.
Either your Linux Lite ISO is not bootable or the ISO is not in the guest's CD drive.

Thanx for the quick reply. You wrote
The "boot order" has been changed to - HD, Optical drive, Floppy. With the live-CD ISO (v 4.4) in HOST optical drive (physical NOT virtual) LL seems to boot and run s-l-o-w-l-y. Can the ISO be loaded to a VIRTUAL optical drive to improve performance ? If so, how ? Also since LL is down-level can a current version be loaded to the virtual optical drive without first downloading to CD ?If your guest has a bootable Linux Live-CD ISO file in the guest's CD drive, then the guest will boot from that. From the VirtualBox Menu Bar choose Devices > Optical Drives > Choose a disk file - navigate to the iso location and select it. Don't forget to eject the 'disk', when you've finished with it.
