I'm trying to debug after I got a new 3D card. My virtual machines crashes often after the hardware installation and I didn't have this problem before.
So if I don't use 3D-acceleration will the screen updating or performance running the vm somehow decrease?
I'm using it for development so I don't need the 3D acceleration.
Thanks!
Lasse
Will 3D acceleration help if I only use plain 2D Windows?

I could not really say. Only way to know for certain is to try it.
FWIW the production guests I have had (not Windows 10, only XP and 7) never suffered from slow desktop when running non-3D. I never tried watching video in the guests though, I haven't had reason to need video in a guest.
