Website on IIS can't run anymore after upgrading to version 6.1.6

Post by BTang »

Hi

I have a website on IIS. It was running fine on version 6.0.

After upgrading VM to 6.1.6, my site can't open. It keep waiting for localhost response. Memory on my actual box jumps up to 93%. If I idle the VM for awhile, the whole VM freeze.

I tried to allocate less memory to the VM and give 2 CPU. The memory will sit on 73%. But, the site still can't be opened.

Any advises please

Thanks

Please see Minimum Info Needed for Assistance.

Start the guest from full power off, not save-state. Run until you see the problem happen, then shut down the guest from within the guest OS if possible. If not possible, close the Virtualbox window for the guest with the Power Off option set.

Please right-click the guest in the main Virtualbox window's guest list, choose Show Log. Save the far left tab's log, zip the log file, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.

Windows 10 host, 7 guest, no hyper-v interference, memory and core count seem good.

There's a lot of these in the log after boot from the guest's disk:
00:03:04.199256 RTC: period=0x200 (512) 64 Hz
00:03:06.969314 TM: Giving up catch-up attempt at a 60 046 519 136 ns lag; new total: 60 046 519 136 ns
I don't know what these mean, but I surmise that the guest isn't booting properly. Did it ever reach the desktop?

You have quite a house of cards' worth of snapshots in this guest:

I would try reverting Virtualbox back to the version that was running before, just to confirm that the guest is still good. It should have survived the upgrade, but maybe something that 6.1.6 wants to do is too different from what the older version had. What was the old version?

If you can get the guest going, and the guest contains important data, those snapshots need to be cleared up. They aren't backups, and your guest is begging to do what houses of cards usually do.

Hi

It was running v6.0. How can roll back to v6.0 without losing my snapshot? Could you please give me step-by-step instructions?

Yes. My VM has 24 snapshots. Can I keep them if I rollback?

Thanks

Yes you can, but you really need to simplify things by getting rid of some (or preferably all) of those snapshots, whatever version of VB you are running.

Upgrading or downgrading VB does not change anything in a vm, just as updating any program should not change any data, just the program. Nothing changed when you upgraded, did it?
