I was hoping to get some help regarding my weird issue. The sound suddenly stopped working last night and still can’t get it to work.
When it happened last night I was mucking around with Kali on Virtual Box. The audio in VM was set to emulate host system default (AC97, I think) and headphones were connected to the host PC via Bluetooth. Not sure if relevant but I did a full system upgrade on Linux and then restarted the VM, that’s when a pop up came up asking if I had issues with audio on Windows 10?
What I’ve tried so far:
- Restarted relevant services through both cmd and services.msc
- Upgraded, uninstalled and reinstalled audio drivers – Realtek.
- Tried Win 10 default sound drivers.
- System scan and repair DLL’s
- Ensured audio services point to correct path through regedit.
- Latest windows drivers applied
- Safe mode
- Disabled Hyper-V and uninstalled all VM related services and programs.
- Ensured sound card is still enabled through BIOS
- Uninstalled and reinstalled all codecs.
Currently all services are running but when troubleshoot runs it states that “audio services are not responding”. I don’t want to reformat so hopefully this is something you guys can help with. I will begin backing up this evening just in case anyway.
Best regards,
