First apologizes my poor English. My default language is Portuguese.
I was running Virtualbox-1.6.4 for testing purposes in Slackware 12.1, but suddenly, one day, i receive the critical error message "Failed to create the VirtualBox COM object". The machine startup normally as root user but as common user i receive the message.
A temporary directory '/tmp/.vbox-user-ipc/ipcd' was created at /tmp directory at machine startup. That directory can't be overwritten when Virtualbox starts as common user. I solve the problem deleting the file. How can i work around this issue: turn on Virtualbox as root and as normal user without the need to delete this file?
Thank you in advance.
Failed to create the VirtualBox COM object.

Please use the search. It's been discussed several times. Check the Windows Hosts forum too, there is a link in one of the topics to a ticket report with a fix. Even though it's for Windows, there could very well be a Linux fix attached too.
Have you tried it with a new user (other than yourself and root)?

Here more from the same, I should have done a more thorough search. A new user works fine. but a elegant solution remains espected.Sasquatch wrote:Please use the search.
