If the error happens while the guest Virtualbox window is open and the OS installer is running inside the guest window, normally that would indicate that Virtualbox is working and your guest OS has a problem you would solve independently of Virtualbox. Error 0x8007025D coming from the Windows installer is a Windows error, not an Virtualbox error.

However, there have been some reports of the data on a good ISO failing to be read correctly for a guest install.

First, if there is a hash for comparison from the location you got the ISO from, please run a hash check on the ISO file you downloaded. If not, get a new ISO and try again.

If the hash is good, showing a good ISO, or the new ISO fails again, can you please uninstall Virtualbox, and the Extension Pack if you have it, and install 6.1.2? See if you can install the guest OS correctly. If not, go back to 6.1.0 or 6.0.14. If 6.1.2 is good, please then upgrade to 6.1.4 and try a new install in a new guest.

Hi scott!
Same iso that i used to install win10 on my pc (host), should be right...But i will download a new one!
I'm going to downgrade virtual box to 6.1.2!

How can i swap the green turtle in the status bar in the blue icon?
The vm works so slowly, i think that the problem coul be there too..

Why upgrade if 6.1.2 will be ok?

The green turtle means something that uses Hyper-V is still running.

To turn Hyper-V off completely, do this:

1. Shut down all programs. You will have to reboot your host.

2. Look into the 64-bits tutorial below, 2nd post, points 2 & 3 and ensure that none of these things are running.

3. Find the Command Prompt icon, right click it and choose Run As Administrator.

4. Enter this command:
bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off
5. Enter this command:
shutdown -s -t 2
6. When the computer turns off, unplug it for 20 seconds. Then plug it in again and boot up Windows 10.

For further info, see I have a 64bit host, but can't install 64bit guests and https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/139 ... puter.html

At the present moment I am trying to hunt the version of Virtualbox, if any, where the ISO stops working. After 6.1.2 the reports seem to have started. I'm trying to compile some reports and see if there is a common starting point.

Solved with 6.1.2

Indications are that Hyper-V might have been causing the install errors instead of the version of Virtualbox.

If you went through the get-rid-of-the-turtle steps above and now have the usual virtualization icon (Image) in the Status Bar, you might try going back to 6.1.6 and try the install in a fresh new guest.

Either way, could you please post a guest log? Start the guest from full normal shutdown, not save-state. Run until you see the problem happen, then shut down the guest from within the guest OS if possible. If not possible, close the Virtualbox window for the guest with the Power Off option set.

Right-click the guest in the main Virtualbox window's guest list, choose Show Log. Save the far left tab's log, zip it, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.

Googling suggests that 'DsdtFilePath' may be an extradata item added by other programs that (try to) use Virtualbox. Are you using any other such programs?

Can you please zip that failing guest's .vbox file and the vbox.log in the Logs folder, then post the zip?

I solve this issue by move the windows 10 iso file to a usb drive, then it just works. I guess the issue is the iso file and virtual disk file can not be on the same physical disk, or logical volume.

That isn't a problem, I have the ISOs on the same disk & partiton as the guest drive on all three of my Virtualbox hosts, and I never have trouble.

However, I could see a very slow or extremely fragmented physical disk being trouble, if the guest process times out trying to read the ISO while waiting for the writes to finish.

Maybe moving the ISO cleared up a slow disk problem for you, meldude? If you have trouble again, please post to a new topic with a zipped guest vbox.log.

For other readers, having the ISO on the same disk and partition as the guest's disk file is not a typical problem.
