Hello,
can someone help me? I created raw drive for my usb drive. Also create virtual machine in VB but when I try to run it i get this issue -> I see windows is loading but after few seconds i get this Alert message:
"The I/O cache encountered an error while updating data in medium "ahci-0-0" (rc=VERR_ACCESS_DENIED). Make sure there is enough free space on the disk and that the disk is working properly. Operation can be resumed afterwards.
ID chyby: BLKCACHE_IOERR
Závažnost: Nekritická chyba"
I don't have idea how to remove this issue, so I can run my windows from external hard drive.
Thanks for help

Re: Issue with run OS windows in virtualbox from usb drive
What's the filesystem on the external drive? Summary: make sure it isn't FAT.
Also, there are many different kinds of USB drive. If you mean a USB flash drive then those are not recommended for running VMs or for any other active use. They are basically intended for storing and transporting static data, and will often overheat and fail if used continuously.
And of course, going with what the message says, I assume you've checked that the external drive has enough capacity to host a growing VDI file.

If this means you are using raw disk access to make the guest use the USB drive directly, instead of storing a virtual drive file on the USB drive, and you are using a Windows host per the forum this topic is in, then you must offline the disk in Disk Management, and right-click run Virtualbox as Administrator.Drewfuller wrote:I created raw drive for my usb drive
Raw Disk Access on a Windows Host - Run Virtualbox as Administrator?
(Just wondering if this is the cause of the VERR_ACCESS_DENIED)

Ah, I didn't notice the word "raw" buried in there. Yes, this is most likely sector level access being denied.
